Home Progress No. 3

It’s been a little bit since my last home update and there’s so much to share!

I’ve been prioritizing our living room and it’s finally starting to come together! We got our sofa earlier than planned, which was so exciting. I worked on it with my friend Chloe and we had it custom made at a local workroom. The shape is based on this Restoration Hardware sofa and we ended up going with a super soft performance linen fabric from Kravet. I still can’t get over how comfy it is!

The other big addition to our living room is our seagrass squares rug. I had been seeing these all over and thought it could be a good option for us. It’s a high traffic area and I love that it’s not too precious—the squares can be removed and replaced easily (this is also how you customize the size!). I got our rug from a local supplier, but you can also find them on Etsy and Rush House.

We’ll be skim coating the house soon so we’ll finally be able to paint, wallpaper and hang up our window shades from Everhem! I can’t wait to see this room come together.

I shared in my last update about my vintage rattan desk that I got from Good Behavior and had shipped out to LA. I got a custom glass top for it so it could support the weight of my monitor (the rattan is delicate and there are no support pieces under the desk top) and finally got it set up in our office / guest bedroom. I absolutely love sitting down to work in here now—creating a beautiful space makes me so happy! We moved the jute rug (we have the off white color) into this room and I love how it pairs with natural rattan of the desk.

If you follow me on instagram then you know I’ve been busy at the LA flea markets! I go almost every Sunday and love getting there early (often before sunrise!) to get the best deals. I’ve found so many amazing pieces for our home this way. You never know what you are going to find and that is a big part of the fun!

I love shopping for vintage and antique pieces because they’re much cheaper than new products, better quality and they’re more unique. They add so much character to a space, especially when you mix in old and new pieces. I’m working on a post for you with some of my Etsy finds—stay tuned!

I am so excited to be bringing some color and pattern into our home! I’ve been gathering so many fabric swatches from showrooms and can’t wait to start incorporating them into our decor. I love a neutral base, but I have been craving more interest and color in our space. We’ll be using a mix of neutrals, browns and accents of blue in the living room and these colors will likely spill into the other rooms too since it’s a small house.

I recently got the above fabric (Semis Montrachard from Claremont—this color is discontinued) to make into pillows for our living room and am so obsessed with it. And I cannot wait to wallpaper our hallway with this Lake August wallpaper! They also make a corresponding fabric, which I love too.

Thanks for following along on our decorating journey—it’s so fun and I love sharing the process with you!
