I know things have been a little quiet around here, but that’s because we’ve been busy in the background working on something exciting! And now I can finally share with you all—we bought a house!!

When Grant and I used to picture what our life in LA would look like, we always dreamed of living in a little house with a backyard on the Westside. We truly can’t believe our dream is finally a reality and are so grateful to our supportive families during this process. We looked at over 30 places and went on quite the rollercoaster before this place was officially ours. We got the keys this week and we’ll start moving in slowly next week!

My mind is already spinning with design ideas, but I really want to take things slow. We want to live in the space and experience it a bit before rushing into any major decisions. I’m excited to make our mark on the space and have more freedom with design since we are owning vs. renting. The one thing I am excited to do is create a built-in dining nook, like in Hannah’s house below. I’m also hoping to get a lot of vintage/antique & thrifted pieces for the house and am already enjoying the hunt—so far, I got a pair of lamps at a thrift store and a table off of Craigslist!

Stay tuned for more—I’ll definitely be sharing bits and pieces of our design plans along the way!

— We have the perfect spot for a built-in dining bench and I cannot wait to tackle that project! I’ve always been obsessed with them and am already envisioning many memories created there.

— I’ve been dying to purchase one of Heather Taylor Home’s gorgeous tablecloths as soon as we had a larger dining table! This cream gingham one is currently in my cart.

— So very excited for our upgraded Nespresso machine that was graciously gifted as a housewarming present.

— Already starting to consider paint colors—we’re likely going to paint the larger, main areas a warm white, but I’m excited to branch out and do some different things in other spaces!

— I was counting down the days until Soane Britain’s new book, Rattan, came out and it arrived yesterday and does not disappoint! There are hundreds of inspiring images of interiors with rattan incorporated and I am excited to learn more about the material’s history and the process of creating pieces out of it. Rattan has become very trendy over the last couple years, but when used sparingly, it adds such a nice layer of warmth to a space.

— Jenni Kayne just released a bunch of new fall colors of their popular mules and I’m loving these espresso ones. They also come in a gorgeous olive green and a deep navy. Use my code ALEX20 for 20% off your purchase.
