Home Progress No. 4

There’s been so much progress at our house since my last progress post! One of the biggest, but subtle updates is we finally had our walls and ceilings skim coated and painted. Skim coating is a process to remove texture from walls and make them smooth and it’s made such a big difference in our home. We painted our living room in Benjamin Moore Ballet White and the rest of the house in Farrow & Ball Pointing.

Once our walls were smoothed and painted, we could finally hang our window treatments! We bought our roman shades from Everhem, and it could not have been an easier process from measuring to ordering to installing. Highly recommend if you are looking for custom window treatments! We got Woven Woods romans in Chestnut for our living room and Textured Linen romans in Stone for our guest room / my office.

In the living room, we hung light blue curtains which make such an impact in the room. I love the subtle pop of color. The curtains are from Target (no longer available) and our hardware is from Ballard.

Our custom blue pillows arrived and we also added some woven pieces from KD Weave. We got a pair of the small lumbar pillows in chocolate and coasters in cream and chambray. I love the way the color palette of neutrals, blues and browns is coming together.

With our smoothed walls, we were finally able to install our Lake August wallpaper! I chose the pattern Sea Garden in Pacific and can’t get enough of it. It makes the space feel more finished and less like a boring hallway. I keep joking that it’s becoming the best room in the house!

Our most recent find is this primitive hutch we are using in our living room. I had been on the hunt for a loooong time and had very specific requirements and this one checked all the boxes! I wanted shelving on top with doors so you could see what was inside, but it wouldn’t get dusty. And I also wanted closed storage on the bottom for table linens, candles, etc. I spent the long weekend cleaning it up and Grant had the great idea of adding some leftover wallpaper inside the drawers—I love opening them and seeing it! I just need to get some antique hardware for the doors and it will be complete.
