I'd love nothing more than to spend this weekend curled up in bed, but instead I'm going to be busy busy. I'm heading out to NJ to spend time with family + the boy and while I'm there I'll be working on a DIY holiday gift that will debut next week on Melissa's blog (fingers crossed it goes smoothly!). What are you up to this weekend?

I'm so excited to introduce you to a new social shopping site Luvocracy. I had the opportunity to become an early user and am loving it so far. It's a social shopping site that allows you to follow your friends and others whose taste you trust and view items they recommend. It's set up similarly to Pinterest, with a "Luv" plug-in for your browser so you can recommend items from any ecommerce website.
You can create collections (carry, dwell, wear, and adorn are a few of mine) and share with your followers why you like each item. If the item is available for purchase online, you can buy it right through Luvocracy using their secure transaction process. And the best part is that you can make a little commission if someone buys something you've recommended (and it's not just limited to bloggers!). Check out their FAQ for more information.
I'm excited to be using Luvocracy and can't wait to see how it grows. If you want to check out the site, here's a special invitation from me. I'd love to check out your collections so please leave a comment to your pages!
I'm back from a wonderful Thanksgiving/long weekend trip to Los Angeles. The trip was the perfect length and felt like a mini-vacation (the exceptionally warm weather definitely helped). We spent our days window shopping, eating delicious meals and spending time with family and friends who we hadn't seen in a long time.
stopped by the new Madewell store at The Grove (how cool is that wall of succulents?!) / enjoying ice cream
an impromptu stop at Heath Ceramics led to loads of inspiration & the purchase of one of these lovely vases

How beautiful is this Danish home? It appears simple at first with its restrained colors, but the mix of styles and materials makes it interesting to look at–I keep finding new favorite spots!
ONE my search for a great snakeskin pump is over / TWO a cozy striped sweater / THREE simple black studs / FOUR the perfect leather tote at the perfect price / FIVE a luxurious wool scarf that goes with everything / SIX a simple modern clock / SEVEN a stunning tuxedo jacket / EIGHT staple black ankle boots
I've never really been too into coats, but that has all changed this year. I'm not sure what happened but I can't stop obsessing over coats and jackets. My outerwear wishlist is rapidly growing–I think it must be because us east-coasters spend so much time in our winter coats that you want to switch it up every so often!
Here are some that I have my eye on:
I was so set on painting our apartment walls variants of gray - light gray in the bedroom and a dark gray wall in the living room. Our leasing company wasn't so keen on the idea of us painting, but I was also not so keen on our off-white walls. We ultimately decided not to paint the walls and after seeing this beautiful Swedish home, I'm beginning to like our decision to keep the off-white walls. I especially love how it looks in the bedroom with the gray + white bedding like we are planning on doing.
This past weekend was the Dwell Studio tag sale and it was definitely the highlight of my weekend! We moved into our new apartment with almost no furniture except for in our bedroom so we're starting from scratch. I was excited to check out the sale but I thought I'd maybe find some bedding and call it a day. I ended up finding so many great things and all for extremely low prices! One of my favorite finds was the table which we are going to use for a dining table once we put a piece of glass on it. This was definitely the biggest score of the day–retails for $1500, we paid $300! The top of it is faux shagreen (stingray skin) which is so cool and unique! The rug was a spur of the moment decision–I was deciding between it and the Draper Stripe Rug but ultimately went with a little pop of color.
I was able to score a bunch of accessories I had been eying on their website including the Slanted Candleholders ($35) and the Gold Triangles Drinking Glasses ($15). I was on the hunt for the Draper Stripe sheet set in gray, but only found them in this coral colorway. They'll be a great back-up set to have on hand. I was at least able to snag a set of the shams in gray. (We're planning on getting this West Elm duvet + sheet set eventually).
I'm so excited about all our purchases and I can't wait to show you more as the apartment evolves
(and we get more furniture)!
ONE polka-dot blouse / TWO I've been obsessed with this necklace since seeing it on Sarah / THREE the perfect teal nail polish / FOUR festive note cards for the holidays / FIVE I have these boots in black and they're the best to throw on for rain + snow (and still look chic!) / SIX a patterned iPhone case / SEVEN a chic peplum blouse (with a subtle dot pattern) / EIGHT a silky cashmere scarf
It's been awhile since I've done a Happy Weekend post, but it felt necessary after these past two crazy weeks. I'm so so anxious to finally get back into my normal schedule and my own apartment this weekend! I'll be busy organizing the new apartment. On Saturday we're going to the Dwell Studio tag sale and Chelsea Antique Market for the first time–fingers crossed we find some great things! Hope you all have a wonderful, safe weekend.
THIS WEEK I'M LOVING:
+ picked up this great basic gray tee last night (and fell in love with this penguin blouse!)
+ be sure to check out the launch of Mark & Graham–your ultimate holiday gift shop!
+ a new favorite photographer: Kate Murphy
Caitlin McGauley is one of my favorite illustrators (and is a Syracuse grad too!). I fell in love with her Leopard Coat piece when she posted it on her blog and now she's offering an open run of 8x10 prints of it, with a portion of proceeds going to the American Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. I'm off to scoop one up immediately! Purchase the print here and you can donate to the American Red Cross here.
Sorry for the delay in returning to regular posting! After getting back to normal from moving and the hurricane, I came down with food poisoning/a stomach bug and have been recovering over the past two days. This week I'm coveting classic silhouettes with unexpected and unique details...
ONE a classic fair isle sweater with a fun reindeer print + neon elbow patches / TWO chevron-shaped studs (P.S. Loren Hope is donating 15% of proceeds this week to the Red Cross efforts / THREE a special Loeffler Randall bag made exclusively for Shopbop / FOUR black pumps with an unexpected detail / FIVE I've been dying for this Rag & Bone ombre herringbone blazer all season / SIX cableknit beanie with a faux-fur pom-pom / SEVEN a stunning shift dress for the holiday season / EIGHT black booties with leather detailing
