woven inspiration

I took my first weaving class my senior year of college (you can see some work here and here) and I immediately wished I had taken it earlier. I fell in love with the medium and found it to be such a welcomed change from my graphic design classes. The patterns and technical process appealed to my mathematical senses, while the creative freedom allowed me to step outside my creative box and relax. I've been eager to get back into it and finally purchased one of Maryanne Moodie's loom kits that comes with a loom and all the materials you need (email her if you're interested!). I cannot wait to get my hands on it and get back into weaving again! I've been really loving all of these neutral weavings that really focus on texture and changing patterns.

Renting in New York definitely comes with some sacrifices and that usually means a less than stellar kitchen with some pretty bad appliances. I'm dreaming of the day that I can finally have a space of my own to do what I want with. I love the above kitchen from this Melbourne home - it's so bright and modern, but feels warm with all of the wood accents. Here are a few ideas on how to get the look in your own home:

GE shared their new Artistry series of appliances with me and I was pretty impressed with them. I am obsessed with the sleek black options they offer and so wish we could have them in our own kitchen!

Pendant Lamp / Refrigerator / Gold Flatware / Dining Table / Dining Chair / Fiddle Leaf Fig / Dishwasher / Baskets

I came across Valia Gabriel's Greek sandals and can't stop thinking about them. They come in so many unique styles and beautiful neutral hues. I have my eye on the Grace sandals after seeing them pictured here

I absolutely love Dabito's photography and I love his recent "fleeting moments" post, especially the above image (which is now my wallpaper on my phone). Be sure to follow him on Instagram for daily inspiration!

I picked up What Remains by Carole Radziwill last weekend and haven't been able to put it down. She's one of my favorites on RHONY and I was eager to read her book and it does not disappoint.

It's not often that I share graphic design work of mine on here, but I've been working with a few more freelance clients lately and wanted to share little bits of that! I'm designing a logo for my friend's health & wellness blog and the first step in creating her brand was to create a moodboard. This helps us both see what we see for the brand and make sure we're on the same page. After the moodboard is solidified, it's much easier to move forward with designing the actual logo and brand elements. For Kara's brand we are heading in a fresh meets rustic direction - clean colors and typography mixed with some texture and handwritten elements.

chopped my hair a few months ago but it's since grown out and is in need of a trim. I'm having serious hair envy over stylist Kate Brien's cut and color! Follow her on instagram here and here for lots of style inspiration.

I've been meaning to check out the new restaurant in our neighborhood, Gato. It's a new spot by chef Bobby Flay and now that I know that Michael Bierut is behind the design for it, I can't wait to try it! I loved reading about the design process for the restaurant (p.s. he's one of my favorite graphic designers).

Loving the spring collection from Building Block - their structured bags are beyond cool and I love the way they styled their lookbook.

currently coveting no. 67

After a month of no shopping (more on that soon!) I'm approaching my shopping much more methodically and carefully - choosing pieces that will last and that I'll wear over and over. All of the above seem to fit the bill + are high on my wishlist!

ONE / I've been seeing products by Grown Alchemist popping up all over and am curious about this botanical beauty brand from Australia. Anyone tried it?

TWO / As I mentioned on Monday, I just tried on glasses by Steven Alan and a pair of their charcoal crystal specs have headed straight to the top of my wishlist! I love how flattering this colorway is on my lighter skintone.

THREE / I seem to buy a new pair of natural sandals every spring and these Zara cutaway sandals have caught my eye.

FOUR / A classic bucket bag has been on my wishlist for over a year and I cannot believe how good this one is - for only $25!

FIVE / I can't get enough of sweatshirts this year and this neoprene one by Katie Ermilio for Steven Alan is just too good. Her clothes have always seemed too feminine for my taste but I love this unique piece of hers!

SIX / Just like the natural sandals, a new striped dress is a must every spring. This one checks all the boxes and is only $40. Megan sold me on it in her latest post!

SEVEN / You guys - these are the best black jeans out there. Janelle and I swear by them and with Shopbop's 25% off sale, you have to scoop them up. I just bought a second pair considering I wear them at least 3 times a week!

EIGHT / I've always admired Byredo's simple packaging and only this weekend did I finally get a chance to test some of their scents. I instantly fell in love with Bal d'Afrique and am claiming it as my signature scent.
