interior envy: the line house

Today's interior envy is very special to me and I've been wanting to share it with you for months. Not only have I had the pleasure of being in this stunning house, but it is also owned by an amazing couple, Richard and Alice Hoffman, who put so much love and thought into it. Here is their story about their home:

Shortly after meeting, they realized that they had both envisioned building a dream house one day. After deciding on settling in the Woodstock, NY area, they looked for the perfect piece of land for almost seven (!) years. They were lucky to find a 15 acre lot overlooking the Ashokan Reservoir and started in on designing their dream house. Richard & Alice wanted a contemporary home in the vernacular of barns, similar to those in the Woodstock area and around New England. They worked with architects Peter Franck and Kathleen Triem to come up with what they called ‘The Line House’.  The house is laid into a long barn-like structure set up facing the view, with most rooms on one floor.

One of the most interesting details of the house’s design is the exterior material. It is clad in standing-seam copper roofing material, hung vertically and it changes naturally over time. Originally a shiny material, the copper has changed on its own to a beautiful dark purple and now to a dark brown and will eventually have a verdigris patina. The interior design of the home is mostly neutral and was based on white walls for hanging their collection of art.

Thank you Richard and Alice for sharing your home and story with me and my readers.

weekend moments

This weekend included double brunching (a term coined by Janelle), first at The Fat Radish on Saturday and then at The Penrose on Sunday. It was my first time to both places and I loved them both! I spent the entirety of the weekend in this sweatshirt from our latest collab collection with Sezane, and wrapped up in this oversized scarf. It's getting quite chilly here and it's the perfect scarf to block out the cold. How was your weekend?

P.S. this is the last week you can get 15% off all Daniel Wellington watches! Use code 'dreamsandjeans' through Saturday the 15th!

impressed pop up

I love Instagram (it's by far my favorite social media channel) and I love having the opportunity to see my favorite photos turned into tangible prints. So, I was beyond flattered when Impressed asked me to curate a set of my Instagrams to sell on their site!

The set of 12 prints is $24 and it comes with black + white striped washi tape for easy hanging on your wall! It's really great getting to see my photos in print and I hope that you love them as much as I do! I had such a fun time curating the photo set and would love to hear your feedback on it. And I'm thrilled to be in such good company - be sure to check out the other sets!

weekend style

Sometimes we all need one of those weekends with no plans on the books and lots of down time. I'm looking forward to spending this weekend exactly like that  sleeping in, reading a few magazines I've picked up and catching up with family and friends. My weekend essentials include a comfortable sweater, great jeans and now, my Daniel Wellington watch. I've been wearing it non-stop since I got it a couple weeks ago and receive so many compliments on it. I love the classic style of it and the rose gold hardware is so beautiful. I didn't think I could love a watch as much as I love this one — I promise you won't want to take it off!

And as a special treat, Daniel Wellington is kindly offering 15% off their site through November 15th with code dreamsandjeans. I also own this men's style which has an oversized face.

the graham & co.

I had mentioned this summer that we were spending a couple of days at The Graham & Co., and am finally getting around to posting photos from our amazing stay. Let me tell you, we had the best time. The Graham is a boutique hotel located in Phonecia, a small town in the Catskills region of New York. It's a quick drive from the city and you are immediately transported into a relaxed mindset the minute you get there. I can't recommend it enoughwe were already planning our next visit before we left!

The hotel itself is minimally designed but also so well thought out. They have everything you need and they even have a little shop inside their reception area. I was obsessed (and impressed!) with all their branded goods from sweatshirts to blankets to fragrances—they had it all.

We spent the majority of our time floating on those giant beanbags in the pool (the best pool float I've ever encountered btw), but we did manage to leave for meals and to take a short hike nearby. Here are our recommendations:

Sweet Sue's — Go here for an incredible pancake breakfast. We were told it was a can't-miss but unfortunately Sue was on vacation while we were there.

Phoenica Diner — Another great breakfast option. Classic diner fare.

Brio's — Delicious pizza, only a short walk from The Graham. Grab a pizza and some wine and bring it back to eat al fresco.

Peekamoose — An upscale restaurant about 12 miles from The Graham. It's run by the same people behind The Gramercy Tavern in NYC.

Kaaterskill Falls — A short and easy hike nearby to a waterfall.

A few more tips:
Rooms book up quickly, but if you follow them on twitter, they often post about cancellations.
This trip is totally doable without a car. You can take a Trailways bus that drops you a short walk from The Graham!

weekend moments

This weekend was perfect. It was equal parts relaxing, productive and full of fun visits with friends. On Saturday I prepped the apartment for a fun little shoot (more details to come) and picked up these beautiful flowers from a nearby florist. I'm so glad I stopped in and I can't stop staring at them!

Yesterday we went to the MoMA to see the Matisse Cut-Outs exhibit and I was absolutely blown away. I'm not a big museum goer but this exhibit had me wanting to stay for hours and stare at all the little details. And to top it off I had an amazing dinner catching up with Jaymee, Rashi and Kristen. It was so fun having everyone meet and immediately connect like old friends. Hope your weekend was just as wonderful!
