Home Updates

So many of you have been asking about seeing progress on our home and to be honest—there isn’t much to show! We’ve been living in our house for less than a month and with the holidays and work being really busy, I haven’t been committing a lot of time to the plans for our space. I’m hoping I’ll have more head space to work on it over the coming weeks because I am really excited about having such a blank canvas!

As I’ve mentioned before, we didn’t bring a lot of furniture with us from NYC so our space is currently a hodgepodge of pieces until we get things more figured out. My mind is swirling with tonssss of ideas, but I want to be really thoughtful and unique with our designs. We have been making progress on lots of unglamorous things like having our electrical panel re-wired, fixing termite repairs, clearing out dead shrubs in our backyard, getting gutters and quotes for central air/heat. All necessary things, but not very exciting to share!

Here are some little snippets from around the house…

Some small purchases have started to arrive. We finally got a new mattress—our old one was killing my back so this was a very necessary purchase! We went with the Leesa Hybrid mattress and are very happy with it so far. We also got a new duvet insert from Serena and Lily, which has been super cozy. And I ordered new window shades from Everhem, which I am so excited about—goodbye temporary paper blinds! I got the Woven Woods Shade in Chestnut for our main living room window and their Linen Roman Shades for our bedroom. We went with textured blend in natural for the fabric in flat style with privacy lining.

Our main priorities are sprucing up the backyard/patio (so grateful we have this extended living space that we can enjoy year round!), ordering furniture for our living room and figuring out a plan for our guest bedroom/office. Our living room is a bit of an odd shape, so we’ve been playing around with different layouts to see what makes the most sense. I’m glad we didn’t buy stuff ahead of time because now that we have been in the space, our original plan for this room has been completely changed. Right now we have a bunch of mid-century pieces that I inherited from my grandmother in our living room (see above rocking chair)—hoping we have room to keep a few of them once we finalize the plan!
