Cienne NY

I don't wear dresses. Unless it's above 80 degrees and shorts aren't appropriate, you will rarely catch me in a dress. To me, dresses are typically too complicated, uncomfortable and challenging to wear. This all changed when I got the Cienne NY Hudson Dress

I've been a fan of Cienne since it launched a year ago and was so excited to add this dress to my wardrobe. It is beyond easy to wear, which is saying a lot coming from me. You literally just slip it on and go—and prepare yourself for compliments. Every time I wear it, at least 5 people ask me about it!

I love that it's covered up enough to wear to work, but the neckline and leg slit make it just sexy enough to wear out or for occasions. It comes with a removable belt (and has no belt loops) so you can also wear it loose like a caftan.

The best part about the dress is the fabric—it is so luxurious; it's got a great weight to it so that it drapes beautifully, but doesn't weigh you down. And it doesn't wrinkle, making it the best dress to travel with. I brought it upstate with me and wore it out for my birthday dinner at Gaskins

For those of you not familiar with Cienne NY, it is a socially-minded and sustainable clothing line that partners with artisans around the world to create beautiful pieces that highlight the textiles they are made from. Every piece is as easy to wear as the Hudson Dress and you can feel good about the brand you are supporting!

The Jeans I Live In

It should come as no surprise that jeans make up a large percentage of my wardrobe. I am usually in some form of denim 6 out of 7 days a week, even in the summer. Here are some of my favorite pairs that I wear over and over again and always come back to.

THE SKINNY HIGH-RISE BLUE CROP JEAN

I pretty much never take these jeans off—so much so that I bought a second pair! I love high risers and these have a 10" rise that is super flattering and comfortable. I was looking for a pair of jeans with a cut hem and these ended up being perfect in so many ways. I love the medium-hued wash—not too light, not too dark—making them perfect for year-round wear.

The Wide-Leg White Crop Jean

These jeans follow right behind the above pair in terms of wear. You will usually see me in these at least once a week, if not more. I love wearing these with a tucked-in tee in the summer and with an oversized sweater come fall. I also have them in black, which are on equally high of a rotation. I also have and love the Rachel Comey Legion jean—they have a higher rise than these and a cool frayed hem.

THE SKINNY HIGH-RISE BLACK JEAN

It's hard to find black denim that doesn't lose it's coloring after one wash. Enter: Industry Standard's Simone High-Rise. I've worn and washed these countless times and they haven't faded at all. And the fit of these is perfection—a high rise that's extremely comfortable and never loses its shape. I also love Industry Standard's blue-hued Margot High-Rise jean.

Jeana Sohn

I love getting to peek into the lives of women I admire and was excited to stumble upon Jeana Sohn featured on The Dreslyn. I've been an avid follower of Jeana's site Closet Visit and enjoy the photography she's shot for various clients including Clare Vivier, Jesse Kamm, Black Crane and more.

So Much Shearling

Winter is officially here on the East coast and I cannot get enough of shearling pieces. It started with this fluffy pillow and then this shearling vest (thank you, new job) and has turned into a full-on obsession.

weekend style

Sometimes we all need one of those weekends with no plans on the books and lots of down time. I'm looking forward to spending this weekend exactly like that  sleeping in, reading a few magazines I've picked up and catching up with family and friends. My weekend essentials include a comfortable sweater, great jeans and now, my Daniel Wellington watch. I've been wearing it non-stop since I got it a couple weeks ago and receive so many compliments on it. I love the classic style of it and the rose gold hardware is so beautiful. I didn't think I could love a watch as much as I love this one — I promise you won't want to take it off!

And as a special treat, Daniel Wellington is kindly offering 15% off their site through November 15th with code dreamsandjeans. I also own this men's style which has an oversized face.

seeing double

While in LA, Janelle and I showed up dressed like each other every time we hung out. It was totally unplanned and became a running joke. I then came across this editorial from T, and couldn't help but laugh at the timely coincidence. On a sidenote, I'm in love with the styling of this story and the coats are beyond awesome.
