Reading List

With winter quickly approaching here in Syracuse, time is going to be spent indoors more than I'd like, so I figured I would round up a few books to keep me occupied (and inspired). Here are a few on my list...

Mary McDonald, Interiors: The Allure of Style
Check out Fallon's site for images of McDonald's home office featured in the January/February 2006 Domino

The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson
I've been dying to read this book for over a year so I think now is a good time!

Kate Spade & The Strand Bookstore, Short Stories Collection
Need I say more?

Half Broke Horses, Jeannette Walls
I read The Glass Castle earlier this summer and loved it, so I am interested in reading more from the author.

Creative, Inc., Joy Deangdeelert Cho and Meg Mateo Ilasco
As an Oh Joy! follower, I am very eager to read Joy's co-authored book about being a successful freelancer.

Kate Spade London Pop-Up Shop

This week the Kate Spade Pop-Up Shop opened its doors in London's Covent Garden (one of my favorite areas while studying abroad in London).
Last week images circulated of the sketches, which were fabulous on their own:

Here are photos of the finished product -- a wonderful display of color and pattern -- would you expect any less? I am DYING over that striped staircase! Stripes + neon hues = true love!

Friday Favorites 10/15

I have to apologize for my abrupt two-week hiatus from posting. I've been so busy with schoolwork that time just slipped away from me. I am planning to resume my usual posting schedule starting again this Monday. I have, however, been actively reading my usual list of blogs so I have a lot of great things to share! I'm hoping the rain clears up for this weekend. Have a great Friday and a lovely weekend everyone! After doing some work today I am hoping to spend the rest of the day curled up with blankets and my DVR.

I Heart NY

Being a senior in college, I am constantly thinking about where I'll be 8 months. Having spent time in NYC this summer and attending college in the state of New York, I have a feeling I'll be in NYC. I loved the diversity and energy I found in the city this summer. I've been finding a lot of great art prints of maps of the city. Here are a few of my favorites...

Manhattan Map by Three Potato Four $48

Manhattan Art Print $35

Spotlight: A Vintage Poster

I just found A Vintage Poster through Rebecca and am loving the simple, graphic posters they offer! Most come in multiple color offerings so you can customize it to your decor. The best part is if you tweet or post about them by tomorrow you'll get 25% off your purchase! I've got my heart set on the Chrysler Building 'Big City' print - to remind me of my favorite building and my time in NYC!

Springstreets

My boyfriend is a HUGE Bruce Springsteen fan, so when I saw the Springstreets poster on Courtney's blog earlier this summer, I jumped on the opportunity to score him an awesome present for our anniversary, which was this past Friday. I've been dying to share this poster with you all because I love the design and attention to detail, but had to wait until after I gave it to him because he is a dedicated reader of this blog. I don't know as many of the references as he does, but it's still fun looking for the ones I do know! Unfortunately, the second edition is sold out, but there may be a third - you can purchase the print here. Thanks again Courtney for finding this!

Bag Lust

I've been on the lookout for the perfect bag for, oh, a good two years. I'm super picky when it comes to the size, color, hardware, etc. I saw this Linea Pelle bag on Truly Smitten the other day and can't stop thinking about it! Loving the shape, handles, and the gorgeous color and hardware. It has since moved to the top of my wishlist -- doesn't hurt that it shares my name!

You didn't think it would stop with one post did you? The rest of the images were too perfect not to share. Loving the black/grey color palette J.Crew is rocking this season.

J.Crew October 2010 Part I

Oh. My. God. When I saw these images on Katie's site, I could not stop looking at them. So gorgeous! So it wasn't much of a surprise when I read that they were from J.Crew's latest catalog (reminder: change address so I receive catalog again). I immediately went to J.Crew to check out the rest of the images. Everything is stunning--the color palette, the location, the clothes--major style swoon! Can Jenna Lyons ever do wrong? Caution: may cause extreme heart flutter!

I couldn't agree more with Jenna's Picks:

New at Lonny

The new Lonny website has launched! I'm loving the clean design and expanded pages! My favorite part of the site is their blog and more specifically, the collages each blogger has created for themselves. Such great eye candy! Lonny never fails to disappoint.

Seeing Stripes

The weather is starting to get more fall-like with each day and today felt like the perfect day for a tee and blazer. I decided on one of my current favorite shirts and when reaching for my usual black blazer, my eye caught my wide-striped blazer. I found the layers of black and white stripes to be quite chic.

I love the detailed buttons on this blazer.

I topped it off with one of my favorite necklaces - a London charm necklace from Cath Kidston that is the perfect reminder of my semester in London (the crown, union jack heart, and black cab).

Countdown to Rue

After yesterday's "slip" sneak peek of Rue's debut cover, I can hardly wait for the issue to come out this Thursday! The whole gang is headed to New York for what is bound to be an ultra cool and swanky launch party - it's times like these that I wish I wasn't a college student stuck in upstate New York! Can't wait to see what Rue brings to the table!

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011

I don't usually follow New York Fashion Week because, let's be honest, it's a bit difficult to keep up with if you're not there. But after seeing some images from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 runway show, I had to share. The movement in the pieces and the saturated color palette keep drawing me in!
