Winter Sweaters

As much as I want it to be spring, we still have another month or so of cooler temps. After wearing the same sweaters for months, I always like to look for a couple new sweaters to get me through the last bits of winter. My favorite sweater destinations are H&M, & Other Stories, Mango and Net-A-Porter for some necessary luxe.

Right now I can’t get enough creamy neutrals and browns and pops of stripes that will carry me from now to spring! Adding this, this and this to my shopping cart immediately.

Our Wedding: The Venue + Decor

I can’t believe it’s already been over a year since our wedding! Our wedding was recently featured on Over the Moon and I wanted to do a few posts here to share more about our day, starting with our venue and decor…

I am originally from New Jersey and although we live in New York City, we decided to have our wedding outside of Los Angeles. Grant is from LA and has grandparents who wouldn’t have been able to travel to the East Coast. Getting married in Southern California also ensured we’d have perfect weather, which we did—75 degrees and perfectly sunny!

We settled on Hummingbird Nest Ranch for our venue. My close friend, Janelle, got married there two years before us and we fell in love with it. We toured a lot of other venues, but none of them came close to the character and Italian villa feel of Hummingbird. We loved that it felt like an amazing home (with a pool!) and our wedding could feel like a dinner party.

Our ceremony took place under a grove of olive trees and we used olive branches throughout our decor. We kept everything pretty minimal, for aesthetic reasons and to keep costs down. I loved how simple and classic everything turned out and how seamlessly our decor went with the venue.

A few details from the ceremony—our welcome table and bags filled with flower petals for post-ceremony tossing. We had white hydrangea petals scattered up the aisle and also used them to fill our “to toss” bags. I knew they would make a big statement in our recessional photos!

We used the existing greenery around the pool to create the backdrop for our place cards. Wooden clothespins held up the place cards and we also used some mini clothespins for name cards at each person’s seat.

One of my absolute favorite details (and everyone else’s!) were the balloons in the pool. These almost didn’t happen and were a last minute addition. I had seen something similar on Pinterest and couldn’t get it out of my head. Originally I thought we could easily tackle these ourselves and save some money. However, after talking to our day-of coordinator, it became clear that it would be quite difficult to pull off on our own (plus added stress). Party Blitz came to the rescue and blew us away with her install. It seriously came out better than I could have imagined!

Stay tuned for more posts about our wedding!

It’s been so cold here in NYC that I’ve been enjoying the extra time indoors — lots of magazine reading, Netflix bingeing and inspiration hunting!

Mourning the closing of one of my favorite stores, The Line, but also reaping the benefits from their insane closing sale.

Season 3 of True Detective. If you were a fan of season one, but hated season two, then you will love season three. Mahershala Ali is incredible and I’m looking out for Jodi Balfour, who I love following on instagram (and also played Jackie O. on The Crown!).

My talented friend, Jessica Williams, is an interior designer and just opened a store in Newburgh, NY. If you are planning a trip to Beacon, it’s well worth the quick hop across the Hudson to visit Hendley & Co!

We are slowly making updates to our apartment and I’ve got my eye on this pretty mirror. It’s a wallet-friendly version of this mirror.

Really wanting to plan a long weekend trip to Paris after following Alicia’s recent trip! Somehow Paris manages to still be dreamy in the height of winter.

Last weekend I did the whole Marie Kondo thing and overhauled my closet. After getting a few inquiries, I decided to list some pieces over on Depop!

Interior Envy: Hallie Meyers-Shyer

Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s home ranks high in my inspiration files, which is no surprise considering she’s the daughter of everyone’s favorite movie director / home creator, Nancy Meyers. Hallie’s home has so much character, but still manages to feel modern. I love the combination of wood ceilings paired with bright white walls. It’s so nice to see a home layered with pieces that tell a story rather than everything being brand new.

2018 in review

2018 was full of lots of exciting moments, career explorations and of course, a handful of challenges. We wanted to travel more this year and feel so fortunate to have made that a priority — Mexico City, LA, Italy for our honeymoon, Austin, Nantucket, upstate NY, Montauk, and India!

I also explored a new career path - something I didn’t share publicly, but was an exciting experience for me. I’ve always been interested in interior design and I spent 5 months interning with the incredible team at Michelle R. Smith Interiors. I’m beyond grateful I was able to have that experience and feel so lucky to have been able to work with such an inspiring group of women.

I’m looking forward to the year ahead and excited to be back in this space! I’ll be putting together detailed posts of our wedding, travel guides, more interiors focused content and lots of style inspiration. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see!

Thank you for continuing to read and follow along. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

currently coveting no. 78

I never used to like brown very much but as of this summer, I can’t get enough of it! I’ve been incorporating it more and more into our home and my closet. The gingham Trademark bag is my winter bag and that brown sweater is currently on its way to me!

Trademark Gingham Tote / See previous post for current obsession with all things gingham. I missed out on their baby blue version this summer and when the chocolate version came out, I had to have it!

Mango Chunky-Knit Sweater / I’d been on the hunt for a simple crewneck sweater and this one is perfect. The dark brown color is currently on its way to me.

Madewell Cashmere Ribbed Joggers / Cashmere. Sweats. Say no more.

Madewell Chunky Hoop Earrings / Simple gold hoops that make a little bit of a statement.

Loq Matea Boots / Ever since I got this bag last year, I’ve loved a touch of croc. These boots would elevate any outfit.

Tenoverten Polish in Hester / My latest go to manicure shade. Perfect as a year-round neutral.

Heather Taylor Home Gingham Napkins / I’ve been coveting some of Heather’s amazing linens forever and am thinking of pulling the trigger on these when I’m in LA over the holidays!

See what else I’m currently coveting here.

Hotel Peter & Paul

A few months ago, Hotel Peter & Paul opened in New Orleans and I’ve been dying to stay there ever since. Fortunately for me, we are heading to New Orleans next fall for a friend’s wedding!

The hotel is in an 1860s converted rectory, schoolhouse and convent and was concepted and designed by ASH NYC. They are behind other famed hotels The Dean in Providence and The Siren in Detroit.

Gingham is having a serious moment (although I believe it’s a classic pattern) and I love the unexpected play on scale within the rooms. Every aspect of the hotel has been meticulously thought out — I can’t wait to see all of the details and layers up close.

So looking forward to our trip next fall! I’ve never been to New Orleans, so please send any recommendations you have for must-see’s and do’s!

After a (very) long break from this space, I’ve decided it was time to finally come back! I asked a lot of you on instagram what you’d like to see here and it was so helpful! I’m excited to start incorporating into future posts.

Here’s what I’m currently up to…

The White Album by Joan Didion. I am a big fan of Joan Didion (make sure to watch her doc on Netflix!), but somehow had never read The White Album. I started reading it before Thanksgiving to gain some background before seeing a performance of the title essay this weekend at BAM. I’m hoping the performance expands and goes to more cities. I highly recommend seeing it if you’re able!

Our apartment! After 6 years in the same space with basic builder’s paint, we’ve decided to repaint and freshen up our apartment. We are excited to be partnering with Clare, a newcomer to the paint scene. I’m obsessed with their peel & stick paint samples, which made it so easy to choose a color! You peel and stick them on your wall and can move them around from room to room and see them in different lighting — so smart.

Nadine Jane Astrology. I’ve been getting more and more into astrology lately and I love Nadine’s instagram account — it’s so beautifully designed and incredibly thoughtful. She puts together amazing imagery to go with each of her posts and I always look forward to seeing my monthly mantra. She just recently started an email subscription so now you can get your monthly horoscope in your inbox!

I’ve been on the hunt for a great pair of straight leg jeans in a medium wash and am hoping these AGOLDE jeans will be perfect! I’ve heard great things about AGOLDE jeans so I’m excited to try.

Thank you so much for coming back and reading! Please leave a comment if there is anything you’d like to see around here!
