holiday gift guide: for your parents

Your parents can be some of the hardest people to cross off your list. They don't really need anything, and they say they're just happy with a card, but of course you can't show up empty-handed. Here are a few ideas for each of them, as well as some for the both of them.

Tom Dixon Candle / A candle that not only smells good, but looks amazing on their coffee table.

Monogrammed Coasters / A gift that will impress and shows you went the extra mile by getting them personalized with their initials.

Polka-Dot Napkins / Beautiful handmade napkins that are simple enough for any decor.

Rodin Hand & Body Cream / Spoil your mom with this luxurious hand and body cream.

Pom Pom Throw / You can't go wrong with a comfy throw.

Baxter of California Travel Kit / Two gifts in one: introduce your dad to some cool new products and it comes with a handy travel bag.

La Colombe Coffee / My favorite coffee in NYC - if they're coffee lovers, this will be an instant hit.

Vanity Fair 100 Years Book / A beautifully designed book, with tons of history that they'll love reminiscing over.

Leather Mousepad / They might still be using a PC, but at least they can look cool with this leather mousepad.

Gorjana Earrings / Pretty, pave studs that your mom can wear every day.

Tovolo Ice Molds / These molds make the perfect ice cube spheres to complement your dad's signature whiskey.

Gold-Rimmed Wine Glasses / Simple and timeless stemless wine glasses.

Jack Spade Watch / You can never go wrong with another watch for your dad.

We are heading to LA later this week for Thanksgiving and I could not be more excited for the warmer weather + sunshine (it's currently 25° in NYC and I'm refusing to leave my bed). We'll be spending lots of quality time with Grant's family, but I'm hoping to squeeze in some visits to some of my favorite LA spots and check out some new ones. I'm also going to finally be meeting Jaymee and Janelle and seriously cannot wait for that brunch! Let me know any recommendations you have for cool shops + places to eat - I'm always adding new spots to my list.

And because I'm so excited to be heading to warmer weather, here's a glimpse into what I'll be packing for my trip:

01 / A classic black bucket bag to hold all the essentials.

02 / A cozy cashmere sweater is a must for me when traveling. Uniqlo men's sweaters are my favorite.

03 / I'm obsessing over these new Warby Parker sunglasses.

04 / A striped tee that will work with everything.

05 / Looking forward to catching up on some reading on our flights.

06 / The best black skinny jeans, hands down.

07 / I finally scored these flats at the LR sample sale + am looking forward to wearing them constantly.

08 / Slouchy, graphic tee perfection (and perfect for a trip to LA).

09 / My new Parcel & Journey clutch is perfect for a night out.

holiday gift guide: for your best friend

It's that time of the year! I thought I'd switch things up this time and make shopping guides based on the recipient. First up: your best friend! Lots of special gifts that show her how important she is to you (without breaking your budget!).

Fur Pom Cableknit Hat / Because you can never have too many cozy knit hats come winter!

Maya Brenner Initial Necklace / A definite splurge, but she'll have it forever. I got mine a couple years ago and wear it every single day!

Waves Zip Pouch / A beautiful (and reversible!) pouch, made with lots of love.

Aesop Resurrection Hand Cream / My new favorite hand creamsmells amazing, doesn't make your hands greasy and lasts forever.

Jacquard Merino Sweater / I love the pretty pattern on this merino sweater (and the price!).

Diptyque Votive Set / You can't go wrong with candles, especially of the Diptyque variety. Introduce your best friend to the best candles around!

Cuyana Infinity Scarf / Made of soft alpaca, this scarf will keep you cozy no matter where you live.

Catbird Heart Ring / A sweet ring to layer with—and it works perfectly as a friendship ring! (Fun fact: my best friend and I bought these as friendship rings this summer!)

Weekly Desk Pad / Everyone loves fun paper goods and this weekly desk pad will keep her organized throughout the next year.

Bow Bottle Stopper / One of my go-to gifts that always pleases. Works great as a hostess gift too!

Sleepy Jones Shorts / New pajamas are basically synonymous with the holiday season, and I love the floral print on these!

ONE / The perfect boot to dress up or down, all season long. I've had my eye on them for awhile!

TWO / I am in serious need of cardigans to layer over pieces this fall/winter. After finding my favorite sweater at Uniqlo, I just might have to scoop up the cardigan version!

THREE / Spotted this cool quilted clutch at the Steven Alan store and have been thinking of it ever since.

FOUR / I went into Aesop for the first time recently and after trying this hand soap, I've been wanting to go back for it! It leaves your hands feeling so clean and so moisturized, rather than dry. (P.S. this hand cream of theirs is amazingdefinitely worth the splurge!)

FIVE / Our apartment runs a balmy 85 degrees once they turn the heat on so I've been on the hunt for some lightweight pajamas. This Eberjey set looks pretty perfect to me (and is super soft)!

SIX / Now that we have a solid white duvet, I'm wanting a pair of printed sheets to bring some visual interest. These have been on my wishlist forever so I just might have to get them now!

SEVEN / I have a mild obsession with coats and have my eye on this unique jacket from Band of Outsiders. I love how cozy it looks!

EIGHT / After seeing this cuff on Clare Vivier's wrist, I can't stop thinking about how pretty and delicate it is (although I think I'll be on the lookout for a more budget-friendly version)!
